Tips:
★How much soldering, if any, is involved?
Soldering is involved but not much. Each pickup has two wires(Shielded Wire) that need to be soldered. Pretty easy if you have experience with soldering. You can find videos on youtube that show you step by step how to do it. The cheap pencil type soldering iron will work fine, just make sure you are using electrical solder and not the solder used for plumbing ect. If you are replacing existing pickups you can simply snip the wires and splice these in (just make sure you connect ground to ground and hot to hot).

★Are they active or passive pickups? (do they requires batteries)
They are Passive pickups, no need require batteries and have a nice round sound.
The pickups are microphonic,PVC coated magnet wire, ceramic magnet, two conductor, dual coil humbucker pickups are triple wax dipped and vacuum sealed to eliminate any unwanted feedback and noise.They sound strong and relatively uncolored, and the neck pickup is very jazzy sounding!
The shell of pickup is made of metal, durable to use, and the inner shell is made of ceramic magnet, use shielded wire to instead of the flimsy two-part wire, eliminate noise and to play mostly very cleanly. The noble and attmospheric look is more attractive, gold is better match with maple and ebony plates.
